Serial Port
Serial Port

1 RS232 DB9 serial port and 1 proprietary and modem internal connector for an optional data/fax modem. A System Setup option allows for the serial port and/or modem port to be turned ON or OFF. If no device is to be used on either port, turn it off to save power.
Turning off either option takes effect immediately.
To enable a port, turn on the option and reboot the system.

Parallel Port
Parallel Port

Built-in DB25-hole parallel port standard.
Parallel port address = 378h; IRQ = 7.

The parallel port is multiplexed to the diskette drive controller for an optional external diskette/tape drive.
The System Setup program shows the status of the built-in parallel port. This setting is not user-changeable.
Normal
If NORMAL is displayed, the bidirectional parallel port operates as a standard PS/2-style port.
External Drive
This option is automatically selected by the computer if it detects an external diskette or tape drive connected to the parallel port. This option cannot be changed until the external drive is disconnected.

Speaker
The speaker (transducer) can be set in the System Setup program. Three settings are available: HIGH, LOW, and OFF (rebooting is not required).

Keyboard and Keypad

External Keyboard Port

Custom keyboard with an embedded numeric keypad. The built-in keyboard has 85 keys. The spacing of the QWERTY keys is 0.03 mm smaller than on a standard PS/2 keyboard, and the keys have a 0.3-mm key travel with tactile feedback.
Connector
PS/2-compatible 6-pin, mini-DIN keyboard/keypad connector for an optional external keyboard or keypad.
External Keyboard
If an external keyboard or keypad is installed, the notebook computer automatically recognizes it during POST. The system keyboard LEDs (<NUM LOCK>, <CAPS LOCK>, and <SCROLL LOCK>) mimic the external keyboard/keypad LEDs and vice versa.
The internal keyboard remains active when an external keyboard option is attached. The embedded keypad is automatically disabled when an external keypad or enhanced keyboard is attached.
